Artwork File Guide: Sizes and Formats for Printing

There are two families of artwork: vector and raster. Vector files (SVG, AI, EPS or PDF from a design tool) scale without losing sharpness. Raster files (PNG, JPG, TIFF) are built from pixels, so their size at print resolution matters.

For raster artwork, aim for around 300 DPI at the final print size. A file that looks sharp on screen can still be too small for a back print. Transparent PNGs work well for logos, and avoid screenshots, which usually lose both resolution and background transparency.

If you are unsure, send the file before ordering. A quick check for resolution, background and spelling prevents most reprints, and it is easier to fix a file than a finished shirt.
